I guess I caved. I'll have to set aside some time over the weekend and peruse this impulse buy and see if it was worth it. First quick impressions: although nice and shiny, my college text books were also nice and shiny and just as expensive. Will I need to take a lecture class along with this? Should a hobby ever need a book this big?!

If your college textbooks were that cheap you must have gone to college a looooooong time ago. ;-)
Haha. Is 17 years a looooong time? In fairness, I did have it light compared to my engineering and cs friends. Still, hard not to compare the sheer size of it though. Content-wise, however is a different story. I'm just glad it's really not 500+ pages of rules. Then it would really be like a college text book.
